New Ideas About Taking
Carbon Pollution Out of The Air

Removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere is no longer an option – it is a necessity. Limiting warming to 1.5˚C will indeed require a rapid and far-reaching energy transition, and taking carbon pollution out of the air. The debate about doing one or the other is over, as time has passed and other solutions have dropped off the table. We need to everything we can.

Brightstone has worked with leading funders and advocates for both natural and technological carbon removal. We have designed messaging and outreach strategies to overcome old divides in the environmental community, and build bridges to new constituencies.

Carbon removal is necessary to balance emissions and removals. We need to do everything we can to remove carbon pollution by planting more trees and managing land in new ways, and safely and prudently employing newer technologies. Even if we stopped all new carbon pollution today, past emissions would still contribute to impacts like rising sea levels. We need carbon dioxide removal to limit the risks we are already facing.
